Housing & Independent Living

Transitional Living Program

If you’re between the ages of 16 and 21 and are facing homelessness, our Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a temporary (but longer-term) service to provide you with dormitory-style living, case management and life-skills training while you seek a permanent housing solution. Located adjacent to our Downtown Outreach Center and Shelter, our TLP facility involves more freedom and more responsibility than life at DOCS, and is a longer-term stay.

Street Outreach Program

Familylinks’ Street Outreach Program is a federally funded program devoted to making connections with runaway, homeless and street youth. Establishing trust with members of this vulnerable population can be tough; the idea behind Street Outreach is to begin the process of building positive, trusting relationships with young people who can use a hand, but are often reluctant to take one.

Who is eligible?

The Street Outreach Program seeks contact with teens and young adults who are experiencing homelessness.

Downtown Outreach Center & Shelter

People experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County must contact the Allegheny Link at 866-730-2368 in order to connect with shelter and other resources.

If you’re between the ages of 18 and 24 and are facing homelessness, our Downtown Outreach Center and Shelter (DOCS) can provide you with a place to stay and a plan for the future. We provide immediate necessities such as food, shelter, medical care, and counseling, while identifying and planning for individual needs.
