Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Familylinks event tries to bring hope for addiction recovery

With the epidemic of opioid overdoses and deaths, an awareness is growing that there isn’t just one answer for every individual who needs help breaking away from his or her addiction. 

The hope that carries people through the challenges of recovery will be part of the celebration Friday at Recovery in the Community Day, a Familylinks-sponsored event at its Shadyside location at 250 Shady Ave.

A wide array of service providers and community resources will be on hand to offer real support to people in recovery and their families. The event also includes music, appearances by various elected officials and donated food and drink and prizes to give away — including two children’s bicycles with helmets.
